Inspired by the tragedy of statelessness, this play explores the choices people make to save their family when under pressure


Ruth Fingret’s script is ... very clever ...  She not only shows the audience the narrative, but she asks them to think, to acknowledge their prejudices and question what they would do in the same situation.

Set against the back drop of large scale migration, this Asylum examines the personal story of Hajir, a young Lebanese man seeking asylum in Australia, and the family life of Craig, the immigration officer who will decide his fate.


As someone who can't comprehend what it would feel like to have to flee your country for your safety, the text makes the concept accessible to someone like me by looking past the cultural, economic, and social differences and focusing on common ground; the human experience.
